Trusting GOD may seem difficult, however it is so worth it. We are so thankful for love and support that we have received from our dear friends and family throughout our courtship. Here’s a bit of our story…
On March 24th, 2015, the bride and groom made an intentional decision to live for GOD by courting His way. In the past, pursuing relationship’s in a worldy way lead to heartbreak, confusion, and uneasiness, so the bride and groom knew that moving forward the only option was to pursue love by listening to the ONE whom created love– GOD.
The bride and groom realized that one canNOT properly love if they are being disobedient to GOD, so the bride and groom were sure to move forward with reverence for GOD, intentionally seeking His approval on everything. GOD has standards, His commands are very specific, and through His strength– righteous living can be achieved. GOD says that: love means obedience, thus loving Him meant that we would do solely as He commands. ““If you love me, obey my commandments.” John 14:15 NLT
Obedience has been so worth it…so so so worth it.“If you will only obey me, you will have plenty to eat.” Isaiah 1:19 NLT
Largely, the bride and groom have learned that courting GOD’s way means being obedient, growing in faith, and clinging to GOD daily for direction and approval. “Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.”” John 14:21 NLT
The couple loves living for an audience of O N E- GOD. The couple understands that ONLY His approval matters, and thus lives by His standards ONLY…not by human opinion. To live knowing that GOD is pleased is the ONLY goal. Living with this perspective has been life changing for the bride and groom, and they would NOT have it any other way. A courtship free of physical intimacy but filled with spiritual intimacy has been the greatest experience….in all of this, the couple has learned that if you honor GOD, He will honor you.
“And it is good for people to submit at an early age to the yoke of his discipline:” Lamentations 3:27 NLT
To keep their promise to GOD and to ensure that they would not fall short, the bride and groom decided not to kiss until the wedding day…a small spark can lead to uncontrollable blazing flames, so the couple did not want to place themselves in any tempting situations.
The fruition of obedience is priceless. If we cling to GOD, and are careful to obey Him, the forthcoming reward is paramount even if we don’t see it on earth. We know that our treasures are being stored in Heaven. The bride and groom want to encourage others to make the LORD the center of everything, and to pursue relationships that are righteous…to be equally yoked and equally submitting onto the LORD. Pursuing His way is so worth it. “If you make the LORD your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter,” Psalms 91:9 NLT
““You must love the LORD your God and always obey his requirements, decrees, regulations, and commands.” Deuteronomy 11:1 NLT
The bride has been so thankful for a proper headship…for a man who spends time in the word to ensure that she is properly lead towards Christ. She is thankful to serve and submit to a man who is submitting first to GOD.
The groom has been leading the courtship, ensuring the both he and his future wife are studying GOD’s word. He understands that the husband’s role is one of provision- to provide structure and discipline and to ensure that his wife is presented without spot or wrinkle before Christ.
“In the same way, you husbands must give honor to your wives. Treat your wife with understanding as you live together. She may be weaker than you are, but she is your equal partner in God’s gift of new life. Treat her as you should so your prayers will not be hindered.” 1 Peter 3:7 NLT
“You have captured my heart, my treasure, my bride. You hold it hostage with one glance of your eyes, with a single jewel of your necklace.” Song of Songs 4:9 NLT
The couple’s spiritual intimacy has peaked and remains at a very high place with GOD and it is stronger than ever. The couple would not have it any other way. The couple was engaged on 3/20/16, 361 days after they began courting and are excited to wed during the holiday season.
The foundation of courtship and marriage is GOD, faith, and prayer. Without those things, any relationship will fail. The couple has seen GOD truly bring blessings to pass and their faith has grown. Choosing GOD is so worth it. The couple is excited to share in Holy Matrimony and share their first kiss on 12/3/16 in front of dear friends and family members.
